Hydrozone is a thirty nine year old family owned business based in Baytown, Texas and serves the greater Houston market. Our construction division also serves the Austin, Dallas/Fort Worth, Bryan/College Station, and San Antonio markets.

Founded by Cruz Hernandez Calderon as CHC & Sons Sprinkler Systems in 1983. As a young immigrant in the 1960’s & 1970’s, Mr. Cruz learned the irrigation trade while working for the Zolezzi Brothers farms in Central California. Mr. Cruz converted all the Zolezzi farms to in ground irrigation systems.  Relocating his family in 1980 to Texas, Mr. Cruz worked as a machinist for 2 years until the company he worked for relocated to Missouri. Not wanting to relocate again. Mr. Cruz went into business for himself.

In 1983, Mr. Cruz Hernandez Calderon established CHC & Sons Sprinkler Systems. In 1987, Mr. Cruz held Irrigator’s License #3724 and was one of the first two people to take the Irrigator’s test in Spanish. Prior to this Mr. Cruz had failed to pass the Annual Irrigator test which was written in English over five times. The core business was irrigation and still is today. By 1993, his three sons had joined the business. This enabled the company to add landscape construction and landscape maintenance to its list of services. In 1994, Mr. Cruz won an award from Hispanic Business as one of the fastest growing Hispanic companies in the United States. Growth and revenues stayed steady for the next 14 years. By 2000, revenues had reached 2 million. In 2008, with health issues, Mr. Cruz stepped down as owner of the business and his eldest son Juan assumed ownership.

With the water conservation market growing in Texas and new joint ventures with National companies. The company was rebranded to reflect the new added services in the water conservation market. Hydrozone Landscape Corporation was established in 2009. Mr. Cruz’s three sons are all actively involved in the daily operations of the company, helping guide 33 consecutive years of growth. In November 2014, Mr. Cruz Hernandez Calderon passed away.

Today, with over 39 years Hydrozone has become a major competitor in the Houston region, performing a full range of services to include: Commercial Construction, Irrigation design and installation, Commercial Maintenance, Limited site development, Landscape design build, Planning, Major tree transplanting and relocation, Rain Harvesting Systems, and Hardscape installation.  

Although best known for our contributions to the irrigation industry, Hydrozone has Specialties that reach far beyond that of irrigation.  In fact, here at Hydrozone we like to say that we have "UNLIMITED Capabilities."

Within each of our Specialties, Hydrozone collaborates with the owner during the initial phase of the project, working in concert with the design team to develop the project objectives.  Our early involvement allows us to develop project execution strategies that address aggressive project schedules, meet specific budget requirements and provide value engineering.  In this role we act as a resource to assist the Client and design team in making decisions during the development of the project that will favorably impact on-going operations.

At the project level, we have the resources and personnel to achieve the stated goals of the project to a level of quality that exceeds expectations. In addition, our customers share in the savings realized from our national buying power, our low bonding and insurance rates and our established relationships with vendors.
